Women in the sneaker community certainly don’t always get the same access as men. We are plagued by cliched colorways; different, and sometimes cheaper details in smaller grade school sizes; and are locked out of most shoe releases for men due to the narrow and discriminating sizing chart.
But, the sun always comes out tomorrow.
This sneaker season we have gotten some pretty dope summer colorways and desgins to add to our solemn collection to help make sure our wardrobe stands out.
Here’s the #chxwithsole guide to your summer sneaker and style essentials:
Yellow is a colorway that we don’t get to see a lot of. When you think of summer, what colors do you think of? You can’t leave out yellow. Yellow brings the sunny side back to our lives after a cold winter season. And it does that for your wardrobe too! A pop of yellow can instantly bring sunshine to any look. These Nike Air Force 1 LV8 “Mineral Gold” are covered in a velvet upper with a leather swoosh to add a perfect pop of yellow texture and color. The pair also includes matching satin laces for the perfect touch of luxury. If yellow isn’t quite your color, no worries, other colorways in the LV8 collection include a berry purple and a dark sky blue to make sure you spring into summer with some texture and color.
Ever since the Nike Air VaporMax Plus hybrid model debuted earlier this year the gradient colorways haven’t disappointed. The hybrid model features the classic Air Max Plus upper with a VaporMax translucent sole. With about five women exclusive gradients to date to choose from, this silhouette is perfect for a comfy yet colorful look. The “Bleached Aqua” colorway was among the first women exclusive colorways to debut and according to its designer, was inspired by Florida sunsets. And who doesn’t love sunsets? If you’re lucky to find one of these gradient hues don’t hesitate to pick them up. We’re all looking forward to more colorful hues and sunsets as the warmer weather gets closer.
You can’t go wrong with a pair of slides. Whether your indoors or outdoors, on the run or at the beach, do it in style with a comfy pair of slides. These Vans Cayucas Slides include hook and loop straps, an UltraCush Lite bed, and the iconic checkerboard pattern serving a stylish yet comfy look. Slides are probably the most comfortable and cheap soles you’ll find for the warmer season so stock up on your favorite colors at your go-to sneaker retailers.
“Season of Her” collection
We believe every girl needs a pair of Air Jordan 1 Highs in their collection. It just so happens that Jordan Brand thought so too. Jordan released ten pair of Air Jordan 1 Highs as a part of the “Season of Her” pack. All for her. The pack included ten pairs of sneakers of pastel hues ranging from deep oranges, blues, purples, pinks, and the green here deemed the “Mint Foam.” Each of the spring-inspired colorways boasts suede uppers with leather accents and satin detailing on the toe box, heel, and ankle collar. Matching waxed laces with metal lace tips completed the design for the perfect luxurious finish. With ten pastel tones in the collection, it’s hard to choose just one! They’re a perfect accessory to your summer fashion.
Nike 1 Reimagined Collection:
Just as you’ll have highs you’ll need your lows too. Nike tapped into their inner goddess earlier this year and asked 14 of their female designers to reimagine the Air Jordan 1s and Air Force 1s, two of Nike’s most iconic shoes. Each shoe had tweaked details that kept you turning the shoes ‘round and around to find all the details. The Air Force 1 Low Jester XX’s were a pair that definitely had details on every angle of the shoe. The off-kilter Nike check, the off-center Nike Air on the heel, the imprint of the outer sole on the insole! Such a great shoe, we even thought of picking up an extra pair just to keep in stock!
Nike x Off-White
One of the newer trends in the world of sneakers is the collaboration between Nike and Off-White designer, Virgil Abloh. Nike x Off-White originally released ten different deconstructed Nike models as a part of the “The Ten” collection in the later half of 2017 and have been rolling out new designs ever since. These Off-White x Nike Air VaporMax “Black” continue Abloh’s deconstructed aesthetic with unfinished stitching, industrial branding, and the signature Off-White red zip-tie. If you haven’t picked up a pair off Off-Whites yet, no worries you can still stay on-trend this season. Virgil Abloh has been churning out new colorways for each shoe and has even added the Converse Chucks to the line-up this Spring. Expect a ton more silhouettes and colorways from this massive collaboration.
When summer comes, it’s time to let your skin show. What better way to stay cool and look cute than with simple dresses and skirts. Dresses and skirts are key essentials in your closet to style with your sneakers. Sun dresses, sheaths, mini and maxi skirts, and breezy maxi dresses are all a perfect way to doll up your streetwear look. There are so many ways to pair your favorite dress with your favorite pair of sneakers. The only style tip to keep in mind is that if you’re going for a shorter look, wear low shoes and conversely if you’re going for a longer hemline, wear high shoes – the play on proportions will definitely set your look apart. Dresses and skirts are so versatile. Sneakers paired with a fancy dress or pencil skirt can double as a work and a girls night-out outfit. How comfy! Day or night, dresses and skirts are a simply casual style to keep your sneaker style chic.
You can never go wrong with denim. And we know they say never say never, but in the case of denim trust us. Denim was trendy when your parent’s parents were rocking classic Nike’s and the good thing about that is denim will never go out of style. It’s comfortable enough for a dress down chill look, but can still be dressed up for a night out. You can go for a classic denim look with jeans and a white tee, go for the trendy distressed look, or go for the “Canadian Tuxedo” look with denim from head to toe. No matter what denim look you go for this season, trust us, it’ll always look good with your favorite pair of sneakers.
Mix and match:
One thing we look for when sneaker shopping is for shoes that stand out. Whether it’s the design, the details, or the color, we always look for eye-catching soles. And one way to make sure you’re shoes stand out is to mix and match your outfit. Mix it up a little bit with different colors and patterns. You don’t always have to match head to toe, that’s one of the great things about sneakers and streetwear. Just have fun with it!
Paint your nails, then lace up your soles. That’s the motto. You can never go wrong with a fresh set of polish. Ditch the darker colors of the winter season and paint your nails eye-catching colors. Go for the brighter hues, the glitters, and designs and make sure your nails stand out just as much as your style this summer.
