Stella McCartney is an English fashion designer most notable for being one of the most environmentally conscious designers in the industry. In a movement towards sustainable materials and a cruelty-free brand, McCartney abstains from using any fur or leather in her garments. McCartney has been a long time collaborator with adidas on projects such as creating a trainer made of plastic recovered from the sea and this time McCartney gives adidas a first – the first-ever vegan Stan Smith.
Constructed entirely of vegan leather, this classic Stan Smith features a crisp white upper with a perforated star pattern replacing the adidas trademark three stripe motif. The heel tab features joint branding and a burgundy and navy striped design. To honor the duo, a portrait of McCartney decorates the tongue of the left shoe, while the right tongue features a picture of Stan Smith- the tennis star the shoe is named after.
“I’m a fan of the original as much as almost everybody is,” says McCartney. Her cruelty-free take on the iconic adidas silhouette will be available in unisex sizing on September 10 for approximately $300 USD on stellamccartney.com.
